Dreadful Diseases

Ever since the modern man has developed from ‘Homo Sapiens’ he has been subjected to various diseases. As time went on, there has been huge progress in all fields. In medical field, there has been tremendous progress. But, to challenge the modern man equipped with medical knowledge, peculiar disease appear to give shock to the world. One such shock is the recent ‘Swine Flu’. We are accustomed to milder form of ‘flu’, otherwise called influenza – a highly contagious viral infection of the respiratory passage causing fever, severe aching, and catarrh. Swine flu is different and rather dreadful too. Ordinary flu is incurable and will not result in human loss. But Alas! Swine Flu claimed many a life! All state governments became alert and necessary precautionary methods had been taken up to combat the disease. The circular had been sent to all schools so as to advise the pupils to wear face mask for the protection from the disease. All air-passengers have been checked at the airport itself before granting permission to enter the country. If known, affected by swine flu, such passengers have been separated from others in order to give them specialized treatment. Thus the wild spreading of the disease is prevented.

There are so many diseases in the world caused by mosquito bite. CHIKUNGUNYA is one among such diseases. The disease results in stooped posture developed in the human beings. It may be otherwise called ‘that which bends up’. The word CHIKUNGUNYA is derived from the ‘BANTU’ language, spoken by the people ‘MARKONDES’, residing at southern TANZANIA and North East MOZAMBIQUE. The specific disease is caused by the particular kind of mosquito named ‘AEDESAEGYPTI ‘. The wonder is that the disease spread out wildly all over the world. CHIKUNGUNYA is not a killer-disease. But, unfortunately, it claimed more than 200 lives, regardless of the utmost attempt of the doctors to relieve the human being from the dreaded disease. How to discover whether a person is affected by CHIKUNGUNYA? The symptoms include fever which can reach 102.20 F and arthritis affecting multiple joints. The supportive medical care can be taken by the doctors. But there is no such specific treatment for CHIKUNGUNYA. Vaccine trials were carried out in 2000, but due to paucity of funds, such practices was given up. One consolation is that the disease is self-limiting and is gone with time! The people get terrible fear when they faced the disease at first time. But the doctors and their treatments alleviated the so called baseless fear!

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is the expansion of AIDS. It is a condition in which a person’s natural resistance to illness is broken leading to death. Aids is a disease, caused by a virus transmitted in body fluids, in which there is a severe loss of cellular immunity that leaves the sufferer susceptible to injection and malignancy. Aids is a dreaded disease, for which, there is no medicine has been found out yet. The patient of such disease will be isolated and the treatment undertaken known to medical world. The disease is so dangerous because the body loses the immune capability. Thus harmful virus will enter the body unchallenged. Unprotected by the attack of disease, the patient is likely to meet his death. Venereal disease is the first and foremost cause for AIDS. A man contacts venereal disease because of sexual contact with a person who possesses such a disease. Man is guided by a set of moral principles. This kind of moral code is taught in every religion of the world. Accordingly, no man should think of other lady other than his legal wife. If everybody is such a disciplinarian, where is the question of venereal disease? Where is the question of AIDS? Good moral thinking and behavior will protect one from AIDS.

What is cancer? A disease caused by uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. In other way, we may say as an unchecked growth of tissues. Cancer is one of the deadly diseases. The most common is that of woman’s breast cancer. Another is that of uterus cancer. If checked early and detected by the doctor, we can alleviate the severity of the disease. In allopathic treatments, the doctors use radiotherapy by which X-rays or similar radiation set against cancer. If a person suffers from the prolonged tumor, he is not supposed to assume that it may be an ordinary tumor. Who knows, it may be of malignant nature. So, a person concerned should hurry up to meet a specialized doctor without wasting the time. Life is precious. Is it not? Blood cancer, breast cancer, uterus cancer and mouth cancer etc. etc. are killing human beings all over the world. Though other systems of medicine, namely, UNANI, AYURVEDIC, SIDDHA and the like are vigorously aiming at to combat cancer, needless to say, they do not prove successful as that of allopathic treatment which uses radiotherapy to reduce the intensity of cancer or eliminate the cancer. In short, the human beings should be cautious as regards cancer.
